See how you can easily grow stuff indoors! Let's all try it!
A few weeks back, I was at an event with a local farmer shop called Felleskjøpet. The event was about growing, and we all recived a giftbag from Nordic Garden to try it at home. I wanted to use exactly what I got in the kit to show that you don't need a farm with lots of space or farming skills to grow stuff yourself! :)
My good girlfriend, Linda, was here this weekend, and she is a Doctor in food sience, so I thought that this would be the perect weekend to get going!
They called this pink box a mini- mini - greenhouse, with 12 small pots and a lid.
This is all we did: Add soil. Read on the package how far down the different seeds had to go. Plant 3-4 seeds in each little pot. Cover with soil. Water. That's IT for step one!
It was too windy to do it outside, so we we did it in the kitchen.
Remember to mark your stuff!!
All living things primarily need five things: light, water, nutrients, air, and warmth (and enough space, of course).
After this first step, check on it every once in a while, and remember to water and keep it kind of moist. When it sprouts, you give it nutrients, or fertilizer. No need before that because the seed comes with its own "food package" to get its start. Cool, huh? Nature is amazing...it creates all things from a tiny seed. Even the largest tree was once a seed!
After your plants start growing well, you replant them in a bigger pot with more soil.
Try it! We´ll kind of do it together! I´m not a professional either, but imagine the joy of letting Liv pick our very own cherry tomatoes (her favorite food)!
Ohh, and I haven't told you yet, but one of my childhood dreams is coming true this spring... we're building a real outdoor greenhouse! The kind with a brick wall bottom, white wood, and glass! :) I'm soooo excited!!! Do you guys have greenhouses or want to build one? I'll take tips from you if have some! I can write an article about our process if you guys want, too!
