Time to stabilize the old stabburs and build deluxe doghouses!
It feels like we're living on a construction site right now! We have so much building going on everywhere!
Here are some pictures of two of our ongoing projects: building a huge, deluxe doghouse and fixing the foundations of our old, log stabbur.
As you can see, we really needed the fixing! Just look at those slanting foundation pillars... They're like little Leaning Towers of Pisa!!
We were truly worried it would fall down! Since the buildings are quite old, we also have a responsibility to keep them in good condition.
My brother, Ole Gunnar, is our "expert" since he did this last year at his farm.
The whole house stands on metal "towers" you see here. How cool is that!
Kristoffer is digging around the house to prepare for a better foundation.
Putting on gravel..
The top of the pillars will get an extra strong concrete to even it out.
Project # 2 is building a fancy dog house for our 4 "viking" moose-hunting dogs as we call them (Elgebikkjer).
They will get a house heated with bio-energy from our plant, with auto-doors, so they can go inside and outside. The facade will be like the mainhouse, white in a fancy timber look, with the Swiss-style decoration.
Our Polish helper Lezek calls it "Olav's Million Dollar Doghouse" as a joke!
Getting the foundation set.
There will be six dogrooms, and a feeding and equipment room.
The bio-energy pipes that will circulate hot water will be underneath the floor.
You can see the concrete being poured on top of them here.
Female concrete lady! ;) She knew very well what she was doing.
This is how far it is now. I wonder how we can decorate it Swiss-style to match the rest of the farm without it being too overkill...Suggestions?
This is taken from my office window today! The concrete is needing time to dry, and then we´ll put it back together :)
Below, you'll see how it was before we started (taken with a drone in July).
I´m excited for it to be finished and to show you the results!
I´ll keep you posted ;)
